Mammoth Retreat - D5

Day Five

Our second to last day of the trip. I was gonna say it was a lazy day but looking back on it, it appears that we did quite a bit. In any case the day was slow and easy and sort of felt like a day of rest in retrospect.

Trifle Towers

Eden told me she dreamt about rock climbing last night. This rock in particular she said. Probably not true but I'm glad that she has so much fun on this rock. It is such a gem of a spot for us, where Jon and I can pull hard on a hard climb (for us) and the kids can swing and be free!

Zion designated himself the photographer this day. I haven't even looked yet to see if any of his shots turned out...

June Lake

We never really did get Klamath accustomed to the surfboard the way we wish we would have. He will go if you make him but for me he just cried the whole time so our paddle did not last super long.
For some reason this picture always screams ultimate dirt bag to us. Not sure what it is about it...
This summer we started this new fun game of using the paddle board as a diving board on the other side of Dana Point Harbor, where the water is often a bit clearer and you can distinctly see the drop off. It was super fun to do it in the lake too.
Bath on the beach
Cold!

Horseback Ride

It's been so much fun to do this with Eden the past couple of years. We are looking forward to next year when Zion can ride too. It's funny because Zion refused to pet the horse and it is something he sorely regrets. All afternoon he kept asking us to take him back to pet the horse and to this day he will bring it up in tears.

Convict Lake

We had every intention of riding the gondola again this afternoon but seemed to miss it by about 10 minutes so we ended up trekking all the way down to Convict which ended up being the best thing ever. The kids are obsessed with fishing and if you ask Eden what the favorite part of her trip was she will tell you fishing every time without fail.
Worst fishing dog ever. Cant say it enough. Between the whining and the running into the water and stealing all the fish we reel in, it's a wonder we ever catch anything at all.
Zion loves him anyway, and I suppose we do too. (:

Convict Lake Stream Area

Eden kind of got into climbing by the end and was really determined to get to the top of this mound.
