Christmas Drum

I've been told that we need more videos of Eden on here, so here it is. This is a somewhat bland video, but it is a video of Eden nonetheless.

Hipster

I know that all of the hipster use is silly but i kinda dig it. Thanks Megan. Makes me look artsy.

Seaworld

It has been along time since we have been able to get out as a family. Lately we have been walking around town again, getting back to our old routine, and seeing lots of people that are saying "where have you been?". It has been nice and it brings back the wheres walla to wheres walla. Today we went to Seaworld. Eden was quite impressed.

New Quiver

Merry Christmas. This was the year of the bike. Eden now has a quiver.

"The Lord directs our steps"

A lot has happened since my last post. Eden has turned one. We took a big road trip up to Oregon for a friend's wedding, had an amazing time, but I broke my leg on the way home, while bouldering; so our plans for the future have been dashed. (We had an epic month long fishing/surfing trip planned for the month of October. Eden & I were gonna fly down to Cabo with our friend Chieko & Jon & Chieko's fiance Aaron were gonna meet us down there. While down there we were going to pick up a tent trailer we purchased & cruise back up the baja peninsula in our tent trailer.) Now who knows if that dream trip will ever be a reality. I have been completely incapacitated by my broken leg. I can hardly take care of myself much less Eden. It is a crushing blow. Someone posted a Bible verse on facebook this am which has always resonated strongly with me, and now it means more to me than ever before. The verse is from Proverbs 16:9 & it states: "In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps." God has definitely redirected our steps this time. I am interested to see what He has in store. What He will teach me/us through this. I don't know if I have ever been in a place in which I was more broken or more humbled in my entire life. The only way we will get through this physically & emotionally is by the Grace & Redeeming power of God. I am at His feet, willing & able to do only one thing & that is to wait upon Him. God help us...

On a different note, Eden is amazing. We have had day after day of sitting around the house since my surgery, just trying to make it through the day. And Eden is joy and happiness and love all in one little baby body. There are a few things she has done that have simply blown me away. One in particular sticks out & I never want to forget it. We were all hanging out in the living room one day & Jon had decided to take Klamath & Eden down to the park to run around. Jon asked Eden if she could get Klamath's collar for him (which was in the guest room) she nodded her head yes, but neither of us thought she would actually do it. But sure enough she wandered off into the gues room & came back with Klamath's collar. We were amazed! On a similar note, it was late in the afternoon, around the time that we would normally go down to the school to play, and Eden went to get Klamath's collar to put it on him - indicating that she was ready to go down to the school. I don't know why but these things astound me.

Fun Day Everyday

Eden is now beginning to come into herself. She is discovering the world around her - everyday there is something new. During this process we are both learning her preferences for the things that make her particularly happy. Now that I come to think of it I haven't really taken mental note of many things that make her particularly mad, perhaps we'll save that for another post anyway and just focus on life's pleasentries for today.

Things that make Eden smile:
1. Babies/children: any age, any size, she loves them all
2. Sparkling water (Is this bad? I'm not sure its appropriate for babies)
3. Running around in Daddy's arms chasing Klamath
4. Klamath
5. Peek a boo

The list could go on & on but those are the top 5 for today. It is an amazing thing raising a child. I am in awe. Up to this point in life, I have found that the most satisfying ventures for me (whether it be rock climbing, surfing, etc) are those things that make me fall on my face in awe of the grace and glory of God. More & more I am coming to realize that raising a child is one of those things. Perhaps more so than rock climbing ever was or could ever be. Who needs to hang off the side of a cliff when you are responsible for this tiny being who is just beginning to discover the world & who she is in it. That really is heart stopping enough.

Play Date

We have had so much fun this past week that I have really neglected this blog. There are tons of cute pics to catch you up on the past weeks events but since this blog is primarily for Jon & he was home the past week I am going to skip those pics & just post the one's Jon wants to see most - the pics from today. Today we had a play date with my friend Lauren and her (almost) 1 yr old Alexis. We had lots of fun!

Friday - Swim Day!!

We had another fun day at swim lessons - no pics though, oops. Eden floated all by herself, with the swim instructor only touching her head. Then we stopped by the mall to buy presents for Easton's first birthday and parked at the fire station so we could see Daddy. Eden had tons of fun seeing her dad and I know she is gonna have the best day of her life tomorrow because it's Daddy Day! I will be at work, and since I hardly ever work I am going to try to enjoy it and not miss my baby girl too much.

Look Dad - I'm double fisted! I wasn't supposed to feed her solid food today, because she seems a bit backed up, but 4 o'clock rolled around and she seemed so hungry - so I fed her a little peas in prune juice. This was a decision that I am already regretting slightly but she enjoyed it so much and ate everything, so it's sort of a wash at this point. I may be regretting it more later - I'll keep you posted.

We Love you Daddy!

These pics are from before Christmas, but they are such nice pics of Jon and Eden. Eden loves and adores Jon so much. Her whole being lights up when he walks into the room, or even simply looks her way. Jon has been working a lot lately, so he hasn't been able to spend as much time with Eden as he would like. But I want you to know Jon that we are grateful, and we love you, and miss you every second. Oh ya, and you are the best dad in the world!

Something New Everyday

Joshua Tree

We went to Joshua Tree the other day. Here are a couple pictures of Megan and Eden walking in an area known as the outback.

Here is Eden on her first climb all by herself.

Well almost. She still made mom so proud. Megan is all ready talking about all the climbs they are going to do together.
Mom and Dad got to climb some too.

Just Another Day

We had another fun filled and productive day today. It started with a play date with our best girlfriend Piper. Eden was ecstatic to be playing with Piper. I've actually never seen her behave quite the way she behaved when we sat her next to Piper, she was screaming in delight. It was something else.

Later we had Eden's 6mo check up. She weighed in at 15lbs 2oz & was 26 1/4 inches long. She did really well at the check-up, just happy & smiling the entire time, putting on a show for everyone. Up until now Eden has been a very intense baby, but maybe she is coming out of it, because today she was a goofy as goofy gets. I mean it was really unbelievable.

I ended the day by making my first batch of baby food - peas. This was an extremely proud moment for me. I assumed it would be easy, but the prospect of actually doing it was still daunting. I feel like I have overcome a huge hurdle in making the first batch. Now I know just how easy it can be, and I can't wait to make more. I think squash will be next - yummy.

Rocks & Sand

Well she is definitely our child. Looks like she loves sand as much as Jon & rocks as much as me.

Eating

Sometimes we have to show Eden some serious stuff. Here is our first attempt at getting her to eat some rice cereal.
