Klamath Bath

Every once in a while we give Klamath a bath. I don't know why we don't do it more often because when we do it is literally the best day ever. He is always so grateful and the kids always have so much fun. Plus it slows us down a little bit and helps us to enjoy just being at home. We can use as much of that as we can muster.

Skate Park

More fun pics from the skate park. It's so incredibly hard to get Zion to ride anything but his scooter. He is so proficient on it that he refuses to try anything else. I see it as a problem and feel like taking the scooter away so that he will try other things (bike, skateboard, etc). Jon sees it as the child is 3 and it's really not a problem at all. Jon is probably right - he normally is about these things.

Eden on the other hand is still LOVING the skate board. I feel like Eden sort of enjoys a challenge (more so than Zi at least). But she does choose activities that challenge her, then obsessively practices them until she gets better.
These pics are of Zi dropping in on one of the bigger ramps at the skate park.

Loose Teeth

Eden has a couple of front loose teeth these days (bottom middle). The other day I told her we need to get as many pictures as we can of her with all her teeth; so she and Zi sat down and took these adorable pictures for me. I kind of fear the days that these two are not bound by this inseparable love. I know that at some point it is healthy blah blah blah, but I can't imagine a greater joy as a mom than to bask in the love that they share.

Street Tough

The kids seem pretty big to me lately. Especially when they cruise around in packs with their various friends. They have been friends with most of these kids since they were babies or tots and when I look at pictures from then vs now I can hardly tell the difference. The big ones were big to me (as they are now) then and the small ones were small to me then (as they are now). Even though they are getting so big it seems my minds eye will always see them as 3.5 & 1.5.

Sick Whale, Sick Boat

The weather has been incredible this winter but we really have not been able to take advantage of it with boat time either due to repairs or travel. So when the weather was perfect and Jon was off we decided to pull Eden out of her Monday after school program and spend the day out on the water. Unfortunately, the trip was sort of doomed from the start. The minute we got out there we stumbled upon a whale with a rope wrapped around it, slowly dying. Jon jumped in the water to try to help the whale with no success. Meanwhile Eden is 'ugly face' crying because she is in such mortal fear of her fathers life, and I am trepidatiously driving the boat, trying to keep a safe distance from Jon and the whale when the motor basically fails. Jon earnestly says that the engine failure had nothing to do with my driving but in my heart I know he would never tell me otherwise. Altogether it was a pretty heart breaking afternoon. But we continue to remind ourselves that boat problems are good problems to have. In fact, more and more it's become our mantra.

My poor sweet child. I felt awful for her distress but it was also a good teaching moment about helping those in need.

*Create*

Eden went through a short nail polish obsession - not for her finger nails but for everything else. She would cut out small squares and strips of paper and cover them in nail polish creating necklaces and bookmarks with them. She and Zi together painted one of his cars. The whole thing was kind of a mess and my house reeked of nail polish but I was proud of her little spark of creativity. (:

Driveway Soccer

The kids went through a phase where they insisted on playing soccer in the driveway almost every night before bed. Eventually I had to put a stop to it because it riled them up so much that they never wanted to go to sleep. As you can see driveway soccer requires helmets and if you know Zi at all you know why. The pictures are poor quality due to the time of day and the fact that I was using my iPhone but they are something to remember this phase by at least. (:

Birthday Surprise

I came home to this package on the door step from a long lost high school friend (Allison Schwenn) who lives all the way in San Francisco. She had them delivered to my house by the local bakery. This could be the most amazing and thoughtful gift I have ever received. Eden was claiming that all of her dreams had come true! I mean really, showing up to your house to more cupcakes and cookies than you know what to do with?! What says love better than that?!

Doho Surf Vibes

Every time we come back from Baja it's a bit of an adjustment, and everyone goes through a small period of depression. But this day, that we surfed out at Doho as a family was the best time we have had since coming home. It felt so good to be in the ocean and the sun all together again.
