August Skate Days

In August Eden slowly got more and more comfortable with the bigger bowl drop in at the skatepark and at Shanes. Watching her progression is truly magical. Forever she will obstinately do the same thing over and over again till she is out of her mind with boredom then one day she will just do something new and nail it. It's really beautiful. She rarely falls - when she does she is more crushed from feeling like she failed that any real pain. I have come to believe that not falling is actually her ultimate goal - more than anything she could ever actually do, she really is always trying mostly to just not fall. I have said many times out loud, but perhaps never on here, that I have no interest in Eden pursuing skateboarding professionally or anything like that. I don't really think there is a great future in such a pursuit, but what I do want for her is to always feel supported in pursuing her passions. Right now skateboarding is one of her passions and it gives me the utmost joy to watch her pursue it.

Grampy's Birthday

We got this group together for Grampy's Birthday this year. Sometimes it seems like a miracle to get all of us in the same place at the same time. But when we do all the kids are so thrilled! They seem to really love each other so much. Wish it was easier to make stuff like this happen more often.

After School Beach Parties

For weeks after school started the weather around town was unimaginably nice. In a way I'm glad it started this way because every day after school we knew we could look forward to playing at the beach afterward if energy allowed. The first week felt like a constant after school beach party.

Zion's Boy Buds

How cute is this group? They are all a bit younger than Zi but they are the crew that he will most likely be entering kindergarten with. I am so grateful for these adorable souls and even more grateful that their moms are the incredible people that they are. The more I get to know them the more grateful I am for them and hope that these little boys stay friends for a very long time.

August Rivi Days

A culmination of Rivi days during the month of August. This is the beach that we spent the majority of our beach days at this summer. It's generally a fun body whomping beach for the kids and surfing beach for Jon. Almost any day you choose to go here you will run into friends of some sort or another. Toward the end of the summer Zion discovered that if he went boogie boarding with dad he would have a chance of getting barreled. So he went from saying 'I do it!' (since he was about 1 year old) to finally letting Jonny take him for the first time in his life. Such a breakthrough for the kid and such a blessing for Jon to be able to share barrels with his boy.

I really love these photos of Eden swimming through the lineup on a not particularly tiny day.
For some reason this one is one of my all time favorite photos.
Another favorite
Starfish on the beach at Rivi retrieved from some washed up kelp. A rare sight for that beach (the starfish not the kelp).
