Jon got a nice white sea bass pretty early in the season this year. He got it early in the am diving with some of his buddies. When he came into the harbor to pick up the kids and I a chef from a new relatively expensive restaurant down there saw us holding it up and taking pics of it - he asked Jon if he wanted him to cook it up for us that night. Jon was rather stunned and didn't know what to say - I said yes right away. The result was the most luxurious meal of our lives. A 10 course meal complete with infused caviar and the sea bass prepared four different ways. The chef himself personally brought out most of the dishes explaining each one in detail, the owners of the restaurant kept checking on us to ensure we were enjoying our meal. The whole experience was incredibly surreal. At the end of the evening we were not charged a dime and we were sent away with a big gift bag filled with a large portion of our fish plus beautiful fresh veggies to prepare it with.
Sushi!
I didn't get a pick of each dish but here are some of them. Below are oysters with caviar on the left and urchin on the right. Jon had just finished reading a book about urchin divers so it was pretty special for him to have this dish.
