A Couple of Firsts

I don't have any pictures but I wanted to keep a log of it -

Yesterday Eden went on her first pony ride. I had to hold her hand the entire way and at first she cried just a little bit but in the end she had so much fun and wouldn't get off the play saddle at the petting zoo for the rest of the time we were there.

Today Eden held her fist baby (or should I say babies?) in her lap. We went to visit with Eric & Jen's 6 wk old twins today, Ben & Ella, and she may have held Ella for a second but she spent most of her time with baby Ben, and she was in heaven! She was stroking him and kissing his head, trying to talk to him at times - it was all just too much and it made my heart melt. I know it will be hard when baby brother comes and I know she will act up terribly, but I know it will also be so much fun. I really believe she is looking forward to it in her own way (for better or worse) and she will love him an coddle him like she does her dolls - part of me just can't wait!

Is There Anything More Fun than Harvesting Potatoes?

Last time Jon was home we harversted our potatoes, and I can't believe how much fun it was! It was like an Easter egg hunt in the dirt - who knew? Now I just have to figure out what to do with all of them. I am open to suggestions if anyone has any...

Eden & Her Snuggle Bear

I couldn't help posting one more of Eden and her snuggle bear Klamath from around the same time.

K for Klamath & Dinosaur Noises

Sorry that the movie is facing the wrong way. I need Jon to give me an inservice to learn how to turn these things. This is an old video I found of Eden from around 10mo old. It was too cute not to post. Enjoy.

Blueberry Face

Ever since the advent of fruit into Eden's diet her favorite food has been blueberries. She wakes up in the morning asking for them and goes to bed at night talking about them. When we are at the park, she sits at whatever seat she can find and pretends to eat blueberries and pass them out to all of her newly acquired friends. When we are out of fresh blueberries, we give her frozen blueberries, and now (just in time for summer) all she wants is the frozen variety which are somehow insanely messy. Tonight I was trying to capture a picture of her crazy blueberry face, and while she was too tired and grumpy to cooperate with my objective the pictures that resulted ended up being pretty special.

Fruits of our labor...

A couple of nights ago we got to enjoy beets and artichokes from our garden. It is amazing how it gives you such a high to grow and eat your own stuff. It is just so exciting to see all your hard work really pay off. And really it is not that hard, but sometimes it feels like it is. Eden was thrilled to pick and eat her own artichokes. But I must say that trying to get a piece of an artichoke at our dinner table is something similar to going to war. Next time we are each just gonna have to have our own, even then I am not sure it wouldn't get a little ugly, as Eden is a bit of an artichoke hog.

Eden's Garden

It's incredibly fitting how much Eden enjoys being in her garden. As soon as we open those back sliders and step outside she bolts out there as quick as she can. Lately her obsession is reaping the harvest, whether it is ready to be reaped or not. That has been a bit of a challenge for us - teaching her not to pick and eat things that are still green on the vine. Sometimes it challenges our patience but she is slowly starting to get it - I think...

These pics are from a week or two ago when the weather was much warmer. Jon was sitting in a chair weeding so she ran in the house, grabbed her stool and sat it down right next to him. I didn't get a pic from that particular moment but I got a few from the moments that followed. It was all too cute.

Eden's 1st Big Bang

As it turns out, Eden's toy chest has a very sharp corner on it when the lid is up, we found that out the hard way this morning when Eden collided with it. The good news is that she seems to be feeling much better (from her illness) as she is very eager to play as hard as she can. Unfortunately, she now had a very deep star shaped puncture wound all too close to her eye, but she was an incredible trooper. In fact, as I was fussing and cleaning it and in a bit of a panic, she just started patting my shoulder and giving me kisses, trying to let me know it would all be ok. I couldn't ask for more. I just love this girl.

I couldn't get this one to turn..
I am all fixed up!

Too sick to travel...

We had so much fun in the Sierras last month that we have been planning a trip back ever since we got home. When Eden woke up the morning of our departure sounding a little congested in the chest, I unfortunately did not think much of it, as she was running and playing and being as silly as she always is. Early in the drive she did great but then we got a flat tire and things really deteriorated from there. She pretty much cried the rest of the way to mammoth, it must have been at least 4 hrs of straight crying. Jon had a bad feeling about it and wanted to turn around (he had gotten very sick the week before and had a feeling that things weren't right), but I just thought she was being antsy so we pushed on. Needless to say it was all a disaster. She ended up being very sick although she tried very hard to pretend not to be. I also ended up getting it at 1am that night and I was just knocked out. Thank God we were able to come home and get here safely, as the last several days Eden has been so sick. The days have been filled with a lot of tears and snuggling. And we are so sorry to James and Monique whom we had to ditch in order to recooperate at home.

For some reason she was determined to where her glasses upside down all morning

Flat tire breakdown, should've known here.

The camping was beautiful

She has been a very good patient

Can you see her little tears?

Fun in the Sun

Last week was very warm and sunny. We got to spend a lot of time at Jon's Grandmas pool which was really good for Eden as she hasn't been in a pool since maybe October. At first she was terrified of it, which was heartbreaking, but the more we went the more she got into it and looked forward to going "swimming like a fishy". Unfortunately I don't have any pics of the big pool but I do have some cute pics of Eden and Makai playing in the inflatable pool in the courtyard. They are too cute with each other and play so well together it is just so sweet to see.
