Eden turned 3 weeks old on Friday. The past few weeks have been surreal.
Week One was a week of recouping for all three of us. No one really prepares you for exactly how trying the whole labor process is. For a time it feels like you'll never recover. But you do, I did at least, and that week while I was relatively incapacitated from the shear exhaustion and effects of labor turned out to be magical. For the first time in Jon & I's busy lives we were simply frozen in time. Mesmerized by the beauty and perfection of our child. The world stopped and seemed not matter at all. All that mattered was the simple gestures of our little baby girl. Randomly, my favorite memory from that first week was watching Jon pace the back porch, with Eden in his arms, just chatting away with her regarding her plans for the future.
Week Two I started to feel a lot better that week. I could finally walk farther than the length of the driveway. This was the week that we started to do a little bit more. We were able to walk the beach trail, at first in increments then the whole thing by the end of the week. This was also the first week that Jon went back to work. My mom came and stayed with us those first 2 nights. It was a lot of work but we all survived.
Week Three, Eden has become so much more alert and active. She is awake for a couple hours at a time some days. We had two important firsts this week as well. First beach day & first day trip to the mountains to rock climb - she did really well with both.
