October is Our Favorite Month

Around here October is perfect. The weather is beautiful and the beaches are empty. While we were down at the beach over the weekend a very nice girl named Gina Prosper took some pictures of Jon and Eden surfing. Eden has been surfing with Jon since she was just over a year and a half but somehow this is the first time we have ever gotten a proper picture of it. And not to be left out Zion was sure to get his turn. He is a bit more "energetic" than Eden ever was so I'm not sure he will be surfing with daddy at a yr and a half like Eden was (just not sure he would sit still enough) but I suppose time will tell.

Halloween Pre-Game

Tracy & the kids came over this afternoon for some pumpkin painting and carving. Afterward we had treats and put our costumes on for a pre-halloween photo shoot. My kids literally turn into pumpkins somewhere around 5 oclock so the photoshoot took some convincing but I would say it went about as well as it could have and we got a few pretty special pics.

Growing Pains

It's been a hard few weeks for this little one. All of a sudden it seems as if Eden has been struggling with feelings of jealousy toward Zi. It started with acting out, which didn't work out well for her, and for the last few days she has taken to just withdrawing. It is heartbreaking to witness but we are working through it and I know in the end she will be stronger and perhaps wiser for it. 

Pumpkin Patch

I am wondering if this will be the first of several pumpkin patch blog posts for me this season. It's just that the pumpkin patches are so fun and why is it so fun to take pictures of kids surrounded by pumpkins? Our first visit to the pumpkin patch this season was good but unseasonably hot. We Walla's do not do great in the heat, perhaps especially the older ones. But how can you not have fun when surrounded by pumpkins? The kids didn't seem to mind too much.

More From Eden's Lens

It's becoming an obsession these pictures that Eden takes. I swear it is like a sneak peak into her mind. My favorite pic is the sky picture. I wish I had a picture of her taking it, or better yet video. She held the camera way up over her head pointed straight at the sky, she could barely press the button to take a pic but when she did and heard the beep she said "yep - got it." Perhaps you had to be there, but it really was the cutest thing I have ever seen and I was surprised at how well that picture actually turned out.

Sometimes We Are Sick

Last week Jon took a day off cause there was a big South swell coming. We had all of these grand ambitions about what we wanted to do for those days. At one point we were entertaining the idea of jetting down to Abrejos in Baja, a place we had never been before together (no less with kids) that is significantly further than our standard 10-13hr away Baja spot. That didn't pan out as it just was not sitting well with either of us, and of course we could not find anyone else to go. Then we decided that Jon would surf the first couple of days and then we would jet up to Mammoth for four of the days. Well Eden got sick first and it became apparent to us that we were not going anywhere. We ended up spending a lot of time at home on those days which we really don't do enough of. It is really sweet and cute the way in which Eden plays when she is stuck at home. She gets very involved in some other {Eden} world.

Jon was cleaning out the closet and Eden got a hold of some old {unused} pumping supplies.

This happened. I turned the corner for one second and somehow he hijacked Eden's yogurt and was goin for it all over the carpet. 

BEACH TIME

Even when you are sick you still have energy to burn right? The weather was so nice that we spent almost every afternoon at the beach. Those afternoons were pretty short lived cause of our two cranky kids but they were also pretty awesome. We took my surfboard down to baby beach and let Eden paddle around on it. It was just the perfect size for her, and she loved that she could actually paddle it.
