Eden & Merek

I wanted to make this post of Eden and her dear friend Merek. Eden has such a special bond with this kid that is unlike any other friendship she has. He is fun and adventurous and they are just such easy friends.

San Diego Adventuring

Jon likes to head down to San Diego to surf this time of year when the waves are good. The kids and I like to go with him - always with a long list of activities we hope to accomplish while we are there. This time was like any other accept we decided to go shop at the Sector9 warehouse while we waited for it to get warm enough to enjoy some of the activities we planned (paddling, beach playing, etc). While we were there we decided to check out their skate bowl and sort of got a little sidetracked spending most of our time there. I wish I would have taken a picture of some of the real skaters that came through or at least the expression on Zion's face while watching them. His eyes were bigger than I have ever seen with his itty bitty hands cupped around his mouth. It was adorable. Eden on the other hand was a little nervous in there - worried about getting hurt or in trouble, a full manifestation of the yin and yang that is Eden and Zi.

Back at the Gym

Our local little climbing gym has become more and more of a staple for me these days. With our free passes we have been able to bring other mommies and all their kids. That is always a little hectic but it's really fun to share the experience with our friends. Climbing is kind of a social activity. Often I am bored climbing by myself. But my constant recruiting is really a futile process. Most people just don't really enjoy it. I will tell you one somebody that truly enjoys it though - Eden's little buddy Merek. He loves it and he is pretty fun to climb with! Always trying to push himself and get on harder routes.

This is a pic Zi took of me on one of our solitary gym mornings.
Eden and Merek trying to show Merek's mom which way to go.

I think Zi took this pic as well?

I love these pics of Zi climbing in his unplugged headphones - just rocking out to the beat in his own head. Seriously I am so in love with this child.

Hobby of the Week - Skate or Die

The past several months have felt like a roller coaster of hobbies that Eden becomes completely obsessed with for about one week straight then she drops it as quickly as she picked it up and is on to the next which is completely different from the first. If all of that sounds confusing it's because I am confused. All that to say - this week it is skateboarding.

Heaven at SanO

There are days when being a professional mommy feels like the hardest job in the world. Then there are days like this when I can't believe this is actually my gig. I mean really this is basically what I get paid to do?! If you would have told me 15 years ago that I would be a stay at home mom I don't think I would have believed any of it. But here and now I see so clearly that God has a plan for our life so much better than our own. His plan is so much deeper and richer than we could begin to dream or imagine and I feel that the life I am in is living proof of that. Each day I am humbled by His abundant blessings and try not to take one second of it for granted.
This octopus obsession is a hard one to kick.

Surfer Dad

This pic showed up of Jon on surfline a few weeks ago. There are really very few pictures of Jon surfing - mostly cause he dodges photographers at all costs. It was fun to see this one come along. Makes me wonder how many more might be out there somewhere.
Then this picture came along from last weekend. There were people saying it was Jon - turns out it was not. BUT pretty incredible that these were the waves he was surfing. How I would have loved to have had a front row seat to that show!

Mimi + Paddling

We happened to run into Mimi the other day while on our paddle with Kathy. The kids and I have paddled with Mimi many times but never with a camera. It was fun to snap these pics of her with the kids doing what she loves the most.
